Dr. Plagenz
Dr. Kate Plagenz is from Mondovi, Wisconsin – a small, rural town of about 2,500 people. Growing up, she enjoyed playing sports, spending time with friends and family, and attending Wisconsin Badgers sporting events. After high school, she attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and then pursued dentistry at Roseman University of Health Sciences in Utah. Outside of work, Dr. Plagenz is busy exploring what Austin has to offer – hiking, paddle boarding, and trying restaurants all over town.
Dr. P’s favorite part of her job is creating relationships with patients, and educating the community on oral health care. Whether that entails improving someone’s self-esteem by helping them transform their smile, or simply being there to have a conversation, she truly enjoys this the most about her profession.
Dr. Plagenz is a member of American Association of Implant Dentistry, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Texas Academy of General Dentistry, and Texas Dental Association.
Dr. Rausch
Dr. Rausch received his DDS from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. After practicing in Wisconsin he moved to Austin to be close to family. As a committed member of the south Austin community he has provided dental care to his patients for over 40 years. He has completed many hours of continuing education, especially in implant restorations. His experience with many devoted patients speaks for itself. Daybreak Dental is his new home and he loves the team, and quality of care.
Dr. Mortensen
Dr. Mortensen loves the outdoors and he loves Texas! Having grown up on a cattle ranch in his youth, being here in Texas makes him feel at home. He graduated from BYU for his undergraduate studies and continued on to dental school at Roseman University of Health Sciences.
Dentistry has made a huge impact on his life personally. As a teenager he had extensive work done in his mouth in order to correct his bite and smile. It was ultimately the example of his dentist that led him to choose a career in dentistry. One of the most rewarding things he does on a daily basis is meeting and getting to know his patients. He understands that we all come from different walks of life, and he loves meeting each and every one of you. He has said countless times that he loves being a dentist! Dr. Mortensen has studied with some of the most skilled clinicians in the country in order to be here and provide y’all with the highest standard of care possible.
He is married to the love of his life! They met in college and decided to get married. Since then they have had three beautiful kids that they love more than life itself. The kiddos are so fun, and he and his wife are grateful for their sweet spirits and the light they bring into their lives. As a family, they love to play sports, swim at the pool, and spend time with family and friends. Dr. Mortensen is thrilled to be here and serve the local community here in the ATX!
